Kirovo-Chepetsk Sector: Birthday Party - December - The Fall of Halefex Pr...: Birthday Party Preparation Another day another birthday and now I have a couple of weeks to plan, prepare and write up some new material. ...
So the party criteria changed somewhat to more of a tutoring session rather than a full blown party. Nevertheless in the end it went really well met three great kids, made some ruined buildings and had a battle between the ancient Eldar and the insatiable Tyranids.
Below are pictures of the three pieces of scenery 90% built and almost ready to paint.
Aaron's
Jamie's
Oliver's
Now I will trim them off, clean up the bases and undercoat the models ready for our next session and some painting.

GW Battlescape Improved Version
So I managed to get some pictures of another piece of scenery which I have almost finished. (Just needs filling)
If you have looked at my previous video you will notice a list of things I like to think about before starting/during building scenery only slightly modified to apply to this.
What was the scenery's original function = Woodland
What has happened to the scenery = Heavily fought over, shelled burn out.

What was the scenery's original function = Woodland
What has happened to the scenery = Heavily fought over, shelled burn out.
Who has fought over it = Loyalist space marines and renegade guard units
What sort of terrain does the scenery now sit on = Mud and lots of it
Here is the ariel shot of the battlescape, I chose to base this on a board only slightly larger than the actual terrain mainly due to the simple nature of the piece. I put all my scenery on pieces of wood slightly thicker than the bases the miniatures use this way it helps enhance the cover on the battlefield by placing everything at the same height.
Added details, mud, skeleton and guard parts.
As you can see even with a failry set piece of kit you can make it much more than just the same old piece of scenery.

Shrine of the Aquilla - The end almost...
So finally had chance to post the third and final video for the shrine of the Aquilla, as you will see there are a couple of parts left to be done I will update with a couple of pics and a post some time this week.
Left to do
Conceal smooth ruined floor sections on top level
Add the 3 searchlights and power cable
Damage some bits and add the (3 or 4 pieces)
Fill the gaps
Then I will be passing it over to a friend of mine to paint and he will post up a picture or video blog on parts of this at paintmybits.
See Link at bottom of this blog.

Shrine of the Aquilla - Part 1
Hi, so here is my first attempt at a video blog showing how I go about making good quality scenery for my business and events.
- What was the buildings original function? (helps design/layout of floors, exterior and interior walls)
- What has happened to the building? (helps design/layout of collapsed stuff or placement of barricades)
- Who has fought over it? (helps decide what extra bits to put on there)
- What sort of terrain does the building now sit on? (muddy ground, grass, streets etc..)
- How is the floor held up? (very important - placement of support beams or pillars)
- What is the main building material? (I tend to go for reinforced concrete as the core, as it allows for lots of easy to make rubble)
I believe that if you attach meaning to your scenery the greater care and effort you will put in and inevitably you will get more enjoyment out of it.
Birthday Party - 8th August 2010
So I ran my first paid birthday party the other day. Had a great time met some nice kids and parents but also learnt a lot as always.
The game went well being close right up until the last turn, just proves even though your men may be falling all around you there is still hope!
It went right to the last turn with everything hinging on the final fight between the injured Crimson Fist Captain and the badly wounded Chaos Space Marine Lord.
They both fell in the end securing a 14-8 victory for the Loyal Space Marines.
I wrote a background story for this event and am just finishing the concluding story which I will post later this weekend.

Hi and welcome to my blog it is my first and well I'm sure I will get the hang of this after a few months or so....
The blog itself will be about an event me and a friend of mine are putting together this November, if everything goes to plan then it will continue afterwards as we put on more events and the background expands.
Ultimately this blog aims to be a place for people to view my ideas, trials and tribulations as we work towards this and future events. it will be somewhere people can come to see what happened after each event, how things they did had a direct affect on the background and growth of this idea.
Our first event will be in November (date to be confirmed) and is called The Idameir Expansion.
My buddy Joel has just decided to start trying to make a living from his hobby and I am aiming to do the same now the little guy has got to his first year.
The Idameir Expansion is kind of a joint venture between us.
He is in charge of painting (His blog is called Paintmybits after all) with some building and I'm in charge of building most of the stuff but more importantly sorting out all the pre-event admin.
As I mentioned above my idea is to create a back story for the whole campaign, theme all the tables, prizes and well everything and make the event more than just the usual run of the mill tournament.
Whilst showcasing my friends painting and our modelling skills.
